Nicole Brook, Managing Director of Australian Char (producers of Heat Beads® BBQ Briquettes) was a guest at the World’s Longest Lunch 2009, as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine festival. She shares with you her reflection of a fantastic event and her amazement at the shear logistics of such a lunch!
‘Friday 13th March was a stunning Melbourne day, perfect to host Melbourne Food and Wine’s World’s Longest Lunch 2009. Long tables lined Crown Riverside, the sun shone as the Italian inspired menu was served.
Our first taste was an Antipasto Entrée, which was lovely and light. The main course consisted of Grilled Beef Tenderloin with field mushrooms, almond broccolini and a bean salad. My companions enjoyed a superb dessert, while I resisted temptation – entrée and main was just perfect.
What I found most incredible were the sheer logistics behind the event – serving all those people quality food simultaneously was impressive. Overall it was a particularly enjoyable afternoon. It served as a perfect part of the festival that so beautifully highlights the fantastic food on offer in Melbourne and throughout Victoria. This event was a perfect lead up to the Global Char Grill Showcase, sponsored by the Heat Beads® brand to be held the next day, as part of the Connex Sizzle!’
