In a covered kettle under normal cooking conditions, usable cooking heat (greater than 150 degrees °C) is available for more than four hours. Unlike other solid BBQ fuels, there is no need to top up with extra fuel during this period, especially useful when cooking a turkey or large joints of meat such as legs of pork.
